The Brevard County Library system is made up of seventeen public libraries in a unified system that allows access to over 1.2 million books, 112,000 video recordings and more than 61,900 sound recordings from any branch location. Search for your favorite title from home as easily as from a library by accessing their website at www.brevardcounty.us/ Public Libraries.

Brevard’s libraries also offer computers for patron use as well as free wireless internet access. Story hours, craft; programs, summer· activities and on-site computer programs are fun and educational for children while meeting rooms provide activities for young and old alike. Special genealogy collections are located at the Central, Melbourne and Titusville libraries.

Each library maintains special collections for the physically and visually handicapped. These include a circulating collection of large print books and handheld assistive devices such as magnifiers. Large print’ terminals with special magnification and reading software are also available. Knowledgable reference librarians are available for those hard to find answers.

To obtain a library card, visit in person anyone of the Brevard County Library locations. A resident card is valid for a three-year period and may be renewed for subsequent three-year periods provided that the resident’s account is in good standing.

To apply for a resident library card, please provide’ any of the following as acceptable proof of residency:

•Florida driver’s license OR vehicle registration with Brevard’ County address
•Property tax receipt, deed or mortgage
•Lease for a minimum of six (6) months
•Valid Brevard County voter registration card
•Declaration of domicile & citizenship issued by Brevard County
•Florida Highway Patrol I.D. Card with Brevard County address
•Active duty military or dependent ID Card with serviceman’s Social Security or service number & permanent home address or local installation address & .unit
•Public Assistance eligibility card & copy of application, for address purposes only
